Bangalore: Not Fastest Growing City But fastest Dying City!

This weekend Three news caught my eyes:
  1. A conference held in Bangalore about alarming conditions of Water Resources of the city
  2. Salumarada Timmakka in BBC TOP 100 women list
  3. Namma Metro is giving Step-Motherly Treatment to Native Kannada Speaking employees

Bangalore aka Bengaluru was once renowned as Garden City, also for some citizens it was Pensioners Paradise, But Today many environmentalists are calling it "Fastest Deteriorating City" from the point of view of under water resources. According to them in Next 10 Years Bangalore will be depleted of Drinking water resources and 50% of population has to be relocated! Also in a city of nearly 1.30 Crores population, 60% of citizens depend upon Bore well (Under water resource) for drinking water and it is expected in 10 years all the Bore wells will dry up.

Drainage Meets Drinking Water
According to V. Balasubramaniam, Retired Additional Secretary to Govt. Of Karnataka, the drinking water available in city is not 100% pure and in many places sewage lines and Cauvery river lines cross each other thus contaminating Cauvery water.

Rain Water Harvesting is a Big-Joke
According to him Rain Water Harvesting project of Bengaluru Nagarapalike B.B.M.P is an utter joke, with only 90,000 Houses having implemented Rain water harvesting correctly, while rest are all eye washing mechanisms.

Transformation Cycle from Lakes to Multi-Storey Buildings
Initially Lake Bed is depleted by pouring/dumping building debris and allowing sanitary lines to pollute water bodies. Slowly Places of worship come to existence in Lake vicinity, Next Slums and slum dwellers occupy the Lake Bed Next Slum is eliminated and High-Rise Structures a.k.a apartments and Shopping Malls come to existence depicting Growth and Transformation of the city!
