Bangalore Diary: Ugadhi Festival Recall from Memory

UGADHI FESTIVAL WITH EK-DIN KA SULTAN SODARA MAVA
aka
Maternal uncle

FROM CHILDHOOD MEMOIRS
Friends, amongst so many SPRING-CELEBRATION aka VASANTHA in AJJI-HOUSE, One UGADHI is deeply embedded in my memory chip.  My cousins might not remember it as special one because they might have had ‘N’- number of such UGADHI with their dad. But the UGADHI I am speaking about is most probably in year 1985-86. My Politician maternal uncle had suddenly BUMPER-LOTTERY-BONANZA-KAMAI in this year and he took me, kavi and giri for shopping and all three had brand NEW-RAYMONDS clothes stitched from a familiar tailor for him. Unlike today, in those days’ politics was not at all regular kamai ki job. I have also witnessed my Aunty (Dodda-Atte) going to her Mother-Home (TAVARU MANE) whenever her Hubby aka my uncle (EK DO DIN KA SULTAN) becomes empty handed for that month! It was my other uncle who was a SALARIED factory employee, used to regularly look after not only my needs but also of Kavitha and Giri in many occasions. This used to be applicable to DEEPAVALI-FESTIVAL-CRACKERS too!

Those days’ politics wasn’t meant to be Bread-winner and ironically for many it is HIGHEST-KAMAI profession in present situations. According to me Globalization and Privatization gave avenues for politicians to explore and make quick-bucks by deals from BOFORS, HUDCO, COAL-GATE and 2G Spectrum. Now SAMAJA-SEVE has become fashion statement rather than PASSION statement. In spite of such EK-DIN-KA-KING situations; today I feel proud about my politician uncle as the SUBRAMANYNAGAR corporation ward which he represented is not listed in LAKE-ENCROACHMENT scam for creating REALTY-SITES and the locality has LUNG-SPACE in form of MILK-COLONY Stadium and Sangolli Rayanna-BRIGADE Park in Subramanynagar for kids and elders instead of high-rise apartments in Govt. lands.

DEBIT-CARD WAS MIRACLE ENTITY THEN

FROM ADULTHOOD MEMOIRS

I was newly married but my Income was just 7000 INR. I didn’t have a DEBIT CARD in my pocket; I didn’t know what a PAN CARD is? As, I was adult without exposure to corporate world married to well-verse corporate girl who was MBA by qualification and corporate employee. The incidence I am narrating next is embarrassing one for me throughout my life; but after reading HULI-MAVINA-MARA like autobiography, I have gained courage to speak-out my heart without hesitation. My outing with wife in those days ki prestigious M.G Road and me having just 50 INR in pocket as I had no idea that we were going out for shopping; put me into such an embarrassing situation as I had no money to pay for her shopping and finally she used her BRAND-NEW-DEBIT-CARD to settle the bill is by any means unforgettable incidence for me. When this MBA girl queried me whether I have permanent account number (PAN) I sheepishly replied— “Ya, I have Savings Account in S.B.I bank where my Salary gets credited” is funny one, I relish it even today with mixed feeling of KULKUVIKE aka embarrassment as Tejaswi Sir tells—“BUS JOURNEY in AGUMBE-THIRTHALLI GHATS leads to KULKUVUIKE of Food and thoughts.”  But after a decade and half; DEBIT-CARD is well known entity for vegetable-vendors to house-wife leave aside an entry level Lecturer in a college isn’t it? Learning happens through exposure to new situations and scenarios isn’t it pals?

Bangalore Diary:Engineering Brain-Wired Friends

Dignity of Labor aptly applies to one of my school days friend, who was not a techie by educational qualification but by his act, read his achievements and of other friends engineering bent of mind despite they had no Engineering graduation.......
‘News paper boy, Welder, Refrigerator mechanic, Auto driver, type writer mechanic, Tape recorder Mechanic and Computer Hardware Engineer this versatile thundu, also disliked only one Job of the lot he did – i.e. of Sales Boy in a Saree centre’ --All these jobs were accomplished by my Pal B.K Muni Raju

‘Make in India’ is fashion statement for us for a quite a while from now. The statistics revealed in this newspaper report puts your brain into a BLINKING state of operation. Why is it so? Answer is other than Software Exports India has nothing in its womb to flaunt as ‘BHARATBORN BABY’.
In Nutshell the following table puts it across for you:

Software/Electronics Exports
Other Engineering Exports
Agriculture and Animal husbandry Exports
Natural Resources Exports (petroleum, mining, precious stones)
Handicrafts & others
61.29%
6.19%
3.3%
20.51%
0.39%
According to State of Karnataka, which is 4th largest Exporter in Nation, the graph should be in similar lines  for all states

Friends, Where is ‘70% Bharath Lives in Villages!? ’Statement —reflected in the above statistics!? Only 3.3% Exports is from agricultural, fishery and animal husbandry, a shameless number isn’t it?
Friends this is an effort to take you into an exciting journey of such inspiring Engineers by practice and not by mere degree acquisition in our mother-land.
B  K Muniraja, a Friend who brought out my cricketing skills to its best possible levels, is a true case-study for such Engineers we come across in our day to day activities. Second is my Uncle Venkatesh, A Retired Employee of Kirloskar Electric, Ltd. (Now ORIAN MALL) is one more improvising engineering bent of brain I have come across, Harisha, dropped out from graduation is excellent Electrical engineering brain and I had a pal in middle school called Arun, who at age of 10-12 was excellent mechanic of automobiles like scooters and TVS, LUNA mopeds. My cousin, Sapthagiri, who had no interest in rote Learning was a whiz-kid, with main motto of buying new Toys just to disassemble and re-assemble it.
Definitely if I do brainstorming many names get loaded  into main memory, but most hilarious one is of Amarnath P R, a Destructive brain, that had dismantled a Flute and his dad had preserved it to handover it as a ‘precious gift’ to his better-half on wedding day! A truly destructive-Engineering brain it was. The irony is, Muniraja, Sapthagiri, Arun and Amar did not acquire Engineering degree of STUDY-WRITE-SCORE cycle, But I acquired it despite none of these curiosity about machines having imbibed in me.

B. K Raja is a case-study that should speak to almost all TRUE-Engineers by practice, who never visits INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERS with Identification card or membership card rather practice it in workshops, mechanic shops, puncture shops, electrical live-wires on streets so on.  Pal, let us quickly dive into this safari:

Raja’s first job was of a Sales-Boy in Alankar Plaza, Kempe Gowda road (as a drop out from SSLC for getting detained in ENGLISH). Within a day’s experience he quit the job, true to his mindset of being a problem-solver not TRADER, like CAR-TRADERS, CAR-WALE, 99ACRES.com, Flipkart.com etc. Which is the only business or entrepreneurship in INDIA that has thrived for centuries (i.e. BUY à SELL model of business).
He quit, and very next day he opted to be in Welding-shop floors of Shanthinagar, Double road, (Kengal hanumanthaih Road) Bengaluru. He used to share about excitement and challenges in preparing shop-shutters and collapsible gates. I still remember his daily wages was 35 rupees (approximately in year 1985-1988). The ease with which he took into the job made him darling of his boss and was given on-site roles in different parts of karunadu. That used to get him extra bucks, which will be the money he used to spend for me, Amar and Harisha for evening snacks. The experience with WELDING took him to FRIDGE-mechanic in general and as KELVINATOR brand specialist, here also he excelled and again proved to be a key resource for his employer. All these days his morning routine used to be of NEWS-PAPER boy with Harish and Kondada Rama.  Who for being learnt Dignity of labor and self-respect can sometimes become ‘Laughing Stock’ for people called Editors who doesn’t know the galli and beedhis of Bengaluru except Vidhana Soudha, Mahatma Gandhi or Ambedakar Veedhi and doesn’t know how morning strays attack these boys and give 108 GYAAN on street dogs in their write-ups sitting next to ‘attached everything’ cabins.

TYPEWRITER-KI-DUNIYA:
Same K.H Road gave Raja an opportunity to learn servicing and assembling Typewriters (Mechanical ones) later he learnt handling electrical & electronics type writers too. Believe me dismantling a mechanical typewriter for general overhauling and assembling is quite a complex process like handling human-nervous system (no exaggeration!) But, that too finding and fixing errors is not Dr.FIX-IT jaise Kool job. It requires lot of analysis.Later He started his own Typewriter servicing centre called Rama Enterprises which progressed to become Personal Computer Assembling Unit as Raja even acquired skills to assemble Computers. This the journey of B.K Raja from Newspaper Boy to Computer Hardware Engineer.

INNOVATION IN NEWSPAPER DISTRUBUTION: ‘HARISHA's -cigarette RING’ concept

Though Vakra-Pissing people call Newspaper distributors with ugly-names. Here is Engineering Brain of Harish that helped many of his colleagues to effectively send Missiles of Newspapers to all apartments of three-five floors, by a simple technique of using Rings made of Cigarette paper   acting as RUBBER-BAND to maintain the paper intact until it reaches the fifth floor. Is Harish not an innovative Engineer?  This idea of using Cigarette pack rings became common phenomenon in those days across all newspaper distribution agencies. The Used-Cigarette packs were abundant in our stock as our daily popular game in summer used to be ‘Cigarette Pack and Baccha’ not CHESS or FOOTBALL in PC next to ‘attached everything’ cabins.

Today all these are just memories of my school and college days in city of Bangalore with such innovative brains which never acquired an Engineering Degree by School Education but by Practice.

Bangalore Summer & Its Festivity Memories

Summer is a season not relished by many. Hot weather with thirsty days and sweating body is not liked by many. But Students & Kids like Summer very much, as it brings in VACATION from school & studies. Lots of ice creams, soft drinks fresh fruit juice all make summer memorable.
For Bangloreans summer brings in lot of events in form of City Festival 'Karaga', Lord Rama's Birthday -'Ramanavami' and 'Ugadi'- Kannadigas' New year day.

Bangalore once upon a time known as garden city and air conditioned city is no more clinging on to these titles. This year SUMMER of 'Namma Bengaluru' has overtaken Chennai & Mangalore cities  with soaring mercury levels. We can attribute this to chopping of trees and digging of bore wells and exponential growth in vehicular traffic leading to pollution of all sorts. Leave aside summer, this year WINTER of Bengaluru was not chilly!

RAMANAVAMI- Real Treat for Hot Summer
The mercury levels of summer has been associated with two Festivals Bangalore Celebrates with utmost enthusiasm. Ramanavami & Karaga. As mentioned earlier Ramanavami Birth anniversary of Lord Rama is celebrated with Fruit juice prepared from MUSK-MELON & Jaggery combo- PANAKA, Butter milk and a salad called Kosambari. All three food are best suited for SUMMER appetite. Ramanavami also brings in festivity in form of cultural programmes organized across the city of Bengaluru for weeks together. When Bangalore was not GLOBALIZED with Malls and Multiplex, Summer evenings at Parks of Bangalore with music played by renowned musicians was treat to eyes and ears. Even Today Ramanavami is a Festival apt for SUMMER season, with temples, schools, colleges and shop vendors distributing NEERU-MAJJIGE (butter milk) and KOSAMBARI- Salad.

KARAGA- The Festival of Bangalore City

KARAGA is celebrated in the name of lord Dhramaraya swamy for entire night during summer and the route through which the procession goes will be celebrating it with PANAKA & KOSAMBARI salad! Food that is yummy for summer season. Though Bangalore KARAGA of dharmaraya swamy is the official one of the city, many God and Goddess also have their own customized KARAGA. The person who carries the 'FLOWER TOWER' on his head is surrounded by veerakumaras dancing with swords. The act of balancing Flower-Tower isn't an easy task and needs expertise to carry it throughout the processions.
KARAGA procession takes place in Old Bangalore Localities for entire night, with people thronging in from various districts to watch this unique procession of GOD.

Though current generation is losing its attachment with such festivities, these festivals along with Kadle Kayee Parshe, Avare kayee Parshe still reminds of unique culture Bangalore had and is having.
Personally as a school kid I used to enjoy ramanavami by taking lot of PANAKA & Majjige staying away from home and patrolling city temples and streets serving Rama's favorite food to public!
One more interesting fact about the day of KARAGA is it rains and today it is raining in Bangalore giving break to long and  hottest SUMMER witnessed for the past two and half months.

 Happy Karaga...................

Bangalore City has eateries of all size and shape. Today road side eat-outs have become more and  more popular in Bangalore. Let us look into the history of evolution of eateries of various size and shapes across the city. Eatouts of Road side, read on

The Restaurants serving food in a relaxed style to customers' table through bearers was the main category of food outlets for Pensioners Paradise Bangalore. These type of Hotels initially made way for Fast-Food Darshini outlets that catered to the needs of customers with affordable quality food at quicker delivery mode called 'self-service'. Further these Self-service hotels mushroomed across the city in name of 'DARSHINI' chains. The key reason for mushrooming of SELF-SERVICE DARSHINI hotels can be attributed to unavailability of sufficient space and human resource to supply food to tables in service based restaurants.
As Bangalore evolved from Pensioner's Pardise to Information Technology Hub in 1990-2000, small cafe and chat centers began to mushroom outside I.T parks to provide affordable and tastier food for tongues that would have frozen eating same kind of Hi-Fi FOOD-COURT stuff within campuses. Now the trend is to set up small eat-outs called MOBILE-CANTEENS on road side thanks to whooping costs of realty and rents for commercial space in city limits. Now we have CHINESE, NORTH-INDIAN, SOUTH-INDIAN, SEA-FOOD, WESTERN-INDIA Chat centers, ANDRA-STYLE, HYDERABADI-STYLE, MANDYA-STYLE, DAVANAGERE-STYLE, HUBLI-STYLE food outlets on wheels and small canteens with self-service mode of operation doing hot-business in food and catering sector of Bangalore. Few outlets which are well known to me in areas of Rajajinagar, Malleshwaram, Peenya Industrial Hub and Hesaraghatta Main road are shared with you all here:

Bhattru Hotel (opposite Manipal North-Side Hospitals), Malleshwaram West

Bhattru Hotel or Raghavendra Hotel is a small eat-out joint next to Malleshwaram railway station that serves vegetarian food of great taste starting from IDLI, VADA to various kinds UPAMA akka UPPITTU at affordable hygienic style. It is an outlet people visiting Manipal Hospitals or Railway station will definitely drop in to satisfy their appetite.

One More Bhattru Hotel in Peenya Industrial Hub

This outlet always burgeons with customers from the industries of Peenya Industrial estate. The Open Masala Dosa and a type of BHEL-PURI called 'SANGEETA' are patented food items of this BHATTRU Hotel. This hotel utilizes footpath to its optimum extent. Here Service is also available to customers but at affordable price!

Gowdru Hotel in Chikkabanvara, Hesaraghatta Road

This is out and out Non-Vegetarian hotel that serves delicious Mutton Curry and Ragi Balls with Liver Fry and other parts of Goats and Sheep to customers in a home-cum-hotel environment.

Veena Stores, Malleshwaram

The name sounds like a Book stall! But it is a small store that caters to needs of Morning Joggers and Walkers of Malleshwaram with tasty IDLY and VADA. Also in Malleshwaram we have Bhagyalakshmi BUTTER-GULKAND store that prepares innovative food items using butter and gulkand. This outlet is in Malleshwaram circle (5th Cross). Those who often visit t Chickpet and Avenue road always talk about yummy DHONNE-BIRYANI of this locality. In addition mushrooming of mobile-eat outs selling Chinese to North Indian are doing good business in this city where commercial space is not affordable to all class of society to do business.

Bangalore Mob, Riots & Provident Funds Chaos

Dear Friends, The outer ring road of Bangalore is housing small scale industries and garment industries in huge number. Peenya Industrial Area in Tumkur Road is regarded as biggest Asian Hub for small scale industries. The workers in these garment industries lack basic facilities and often commute in goods-carriers to work and home. This Huge population which has migrated from various parts of state of Karnataka and even neighboring states in search of two times meal a day are in FIX for many reasons.

If you commute in Jalhalli Cross and Peenya-Yeshwantpur corridor in evening peak hour traffic you can witness the HUGE-Population of unorganized workers residing and commuting in this locality.

The other corridor of Hosur Road witnessed Mob trying to torch Police station to avenge the Lathi-Charge faced by women on 18th April 2016. This also led to police opening fire and two innocent people getting injured.Latest news read on

According to various workers & labor association leaders, all these employees are under UNORGANIZED sector of workers burgeoning in outskirts of Bangalore aka Bengaluru city. The last two days Rioting and Chaos witnessed by Bengaluru is amalgamation of restlessness filled among these workers particularly WOMEN labourers of garment sector.
According to one of the Workers Leader, who participated in TV9 (channel) live-show, these labourers are paid less than HALF DOLLAR salary a day while counterparts in CHINA and other countries have a better package. Though the central Govt. decision to stall payment of Employers share in Provident Fund until retirement age was the trigger point for this FIGHT! overall the living conditions of these workers in SALARY-DISPARITY METRO SOCIETY has to be blamed first.

The other angle given by few media persons is that Employers running these garments triggered the riots by spreading rumors of UNFAIR-PROVIDENT SCHEME, as they had to pay huge sum of Rupees as Employer's Contribution under the newly formulated policy.

The Union Govt. which makes hasty one sided decisions in many issues like Pornography BAN on net to New Provident  scheme and withdrawing it hastily shows they lack planning and are unable to foresee the repercussions.

The state Govt. has to be blamed for poor handling of the mob particularly mishandling women workers, who form the major chunk of Garment Industry Laborers.

Finally paramilitary forces have been deployed to control any further untoward incidences. "AACH Din ABHI AANA HAIN"!

Dr. Rajkumar's WAX Model to be Ready soon
F.M channel Radio city-91.1 is celebrating legendary Dr. Rajkumar's Birth anniversary through a tribute of Biggest ever wax model (15 Feet) of the actor. Already the thespian has numerous statutes throughout the state of Karnataka and this venture by Radio City through wax artist Mr. JaQ is an unique one. According to R J Pradeep of radio city, until now all the wax models including that of Sachin Tendulkar and our P.M Narendra Modi are life size ones. This model of Dr. Rajkumar will be 15 Feet and tallest ever made in Indian wax model making history.

Thespian Dr. Rajkumar is a renowned name for we Kannadigas. His statutes and pictures inspired from his evergreen movies of yester-years are present across our state. April 24th is unique day I believe with two celebrities Dr. Rajkumar and Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar had arrived on Mother Earth on same date.

Namma Metro Train Runs Underground

Bengaluru Metro train has started operating underground from Magadi Road to Vidhana Soudha. Soon Namma Metro Train Phase-1 will be completely ready by November 1st 2016, with even the tunnel from Mantri Mall to Majestic being ready to take passengers by May end. The complete functionality of Metro Trains should reduce the pollution level and traffic congestion in Bengaluru by some extent. Namma Metro is first ever underground Metro train of India.

COMED-K Entrance Exams for Engineering Seats to go ONLINE

IPL Watch: RCB-Royal Challengers Bangalore Continues their Losing streak

RCB is known to host a huge total and get defeated inspite of huge total, in this Vivo-IPL T-20 Tournament. This trend continued this week too. The Karnataka players in other teams like Delhi and Kolkata are ruining chances of Bangalore winning matches as they are playing small little cameo innings for their franchise in home turf aka K.S.C.A Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Campus Humor: From Teacher's & Student's Angle

Friends 'Campus' & 'Buzz' are synonyms isn't it? The academic calendar has Lecture Classes, Assignments, Internal Assessment Tests, Semester Exams and Cultural Fests plus Sports activities. While the students have their own 'Parallel Calendar' running throughout the semester with Class Bunks, First-Day First Shows, Gala Party, Love Affairs so on.....
Enjoyment in campus has no generation barriers. While past generations had their bit of entertainment with Mad-Ads, Comedy-Shows etc. Today's 'Gadget Savvy' generation come out with many Short-Movies uploaded on YouTube and use Apps like Dub-Smash to create neo-entertainment stuff in campus.
It is hard to imagine a single college campus whose students haven't contributed to YouTube Videos. Thus is the craze for'Short-Movie' making on campus issues.

My generation was pre-globalization one! Talking to opposite gender classmate and having intimacy was a big achievement for majority of student crowd. In such an era, A girl wishing you by shaking hands had potential to become NEWS! If you get such an accomplishment, your peers would create 'Hulla-Gulla' in campus, taunting you with quotes like "You will never Wash your Hands, after that intimate Hand shake!"

But Today's Campus has embraced Western outlook seamlessly. Other day I was in campus going for coffee, A bunch of girls were screaming from inside college bus. Another peer of that crew who was heading towards the bus from class, screamed loudly 'Hey, Why are you screaming as if someone is RAPING you?'
whereas for my generation this was really a TABOO issue.

While College fests are meant for merry making by students, Faculty have additional responsibility of policing the crowd to avoid bad incidences. So as a teacher you will play role of POLICE/SECURITY PERSONNEL (sometimes even Walkie-Talkie wireless phones will be given too).

My best memories are of Viva-Voce conducted in Practical examinations. As a student 'Philosopher' within me used to give answer to the questions instead of  'techie' within me. One such incidence is worth mentioning here. It was Microprocessor lab examination, I completed my experiments successfully, Teacher summoned me for Viva-Voce. Her question was Define 'PORT'. The answers I gave wasn't convincing her, she negated all my answers. Finally the Philosopher within me woke up and replied, "Madam, There are certain things in LIFE that doesn't have Answer or solution." The teacher was taken aback she stopped questioning me and concentrated on other mate of me!

I faced the same pinch of salt as a teacher later in my career. A student was caught for having copy-chits in his pockets. That guy coolly replied, "Sir, The trousers isn't mine, in urgency I wore my room-mates pants."

The next incidence was narrated by my friend as TRUE one happened in his class, Faculty was drawing a Four-stroke Engine diagram on board. A paper-engine-less rocket crash landed on the dais. Faculty became angry and started screaming at students. A cool dude from back benches came running with his hand-kerchief and picked up the rocket and murmured "Sir, We will send this to Finger Print Experts."

Once I was conducting Viva-Voce for 'C' Programming lab. My question to student was 'Define Compiler.' He replied, "Sir, It is BLUE in Color!" His answer was apparently right as TURBO-C Compiler is BLUE in Color!
Friends, don't you agree that Campus means BUZZ & FUN.

Karantaka C.M's Woes & History of Self-Interest in Politics

Our Previous Govt. led by Mr. Yedyurappa faced the same situation of favoring kith and kin in obtaining Govt. facilities. Today Karnataka C.M Mr. Siddramaiah is under scanner for multiple reasons.
Whenever new  C.M swears in the political pundits give caution to the Govt. not to allow near and dear ones in power management. But the same cycle repeats during all politicians period irrespective of party in power, Let us analyze history of Karnataka Politics with this background.

The so called clean C.M and advocate of Ethics & Morals in Politics, Mr. Ramakrishna Hegde, faced same situation with respect to M.D seats scams by his son-in-law.
Next Mr. Deve Gowda, never kept his family out of political power all his family members jumped directly to politics and one of his son Mr. Bala Krishne Gowda, A retired K.A.S officer also faced allegations of misuse of power.

Mr. S.M Krishna known as sophisticated politician has no Sons to involve in political affairs, But his son-in-law Mr. Siddarth Hegde, Business tycoon had utilized his in-laws power effectively to build his empire. Next Mr. Yeddyurappa was uprooted from politics for favoring family members in de-notification cases.

Siddaramiah who was known throughout his career for having kept his children and even wife away from political limelight is facing controversy of multiple forms:

It all started with his watch controversy that was followed by abolition of Lokayukta and installing of a police officer to investigate all corruption acts in state. Now He is under scanner for the allotment of Govt. Hospital premises for a Medical equipment organization called Matrix Imaging Solutions, in which his younger son Dr. Yethindra is a Director. Though the firm claims there is no scam involved in the tender allotted. The political circle is making huge cry of self-interest playing pivotal role in deciding the tender as C.M's Son himself is in the board of directors of beneficiary organization.

Has this anything to do with 'RAHU KALA' presentation of Budget, only astrology pundits should decipher now.....

C.M of Karnataka SIDDU has Presented The BUDGET that too in INAUSPICIOUS "Rahu-Kala". This Assembly session was full of events with SIDDU'S SMART-WATCH making TICK-TICK-TICK Sound!
Most Interesting part of Budget is: SIDDU'S TIMING OF BUDGET and LOAD-SHEDDING of Electricity happening in Vidhana Soudha Halls during BUDGET session!

When BREEZY-BENGALURU, correspondent tried to find out the reasons for this POWER-FAILURE in POWER_STUDDED 'Vidhana Soudha'????? Many answers emerged..... Here are few of them for you all...."POWER-SHUT DOWN in Budget session Read for more

‘Teacher’ INSIDE!
Do You Have a Teacher Within You?, read this one friends……...

‘INTEL’ Inside is logo promoting Intel processor isn’t it Friends? This post is to all Teacher-INSIDE brains out there for whom this profession is by choice and not chance. my experience as a teacher for nearly one and half decades is distilled out here with funny anecdotes. The souls looking at these professionals from outside will have primarily two misconception amongst these ‘species’ of mother earth. Teachers will be studious throughout their student life and Teaching professionals will be born public speakers. In my experience both these attributes need not be applicable to all proven teachers out there in arena.
Consider my own sample data to decipher this ‘Teacher-INSIDE’ discussion, Friends, I was God-feared PLUS Stage-Feared person throughout my student life! Now I have given lectures at university, colleges and school levels for wide array of audience. ‘How this happened?’, means my reluctancy to become a Techie aka software engineer despite having graduated in Computer Engineering discipline is first and foremost reason for me to embrace teaching field. The second reason being really funny one but intuitive one for me as I had witnessed lot of bad lectures from some typical souls in my graduation course, which used to create a rehearsal picture within myself, That How effectively a particular session could have been delivered, If I was given an opportunity. The latter reason really kindled within me a ‘teacher’ who can put things in simple lucid manner for mediocre-students ( I was one in my school) to grasp effortlessly.  The strong desire within me to chose an alternative profession from my peers and intuitive-’self’ encouraging me that I can be a better teacher than many bad examples I came across as student made me a ‘teacher’.
Next let us consider two case-studies of my own teachers who had inspired and  mesmerised our peer group in our pre-university days. A mathematics professor, who taught calculus and trigonometry with such ease, every student in class used to follow the rhythmic-voice of this teacher and completely solve the problem like a dancing snake in front of snake charmer! The other teacher was our Kannada ( Language) teacher who had given up science stream to study literature, he used to motivate science stream students to read literature with his inspirational classes. Friends, most of the inspiring teachers you might come across in your study life will definitely derive ‘Teacher’s-High’ after every lecture hour, It is this ‘HIGH’ flow of BLISSFULNESS that used to drive them forward in the career with lot of passion and dedication. As long as every lecture hour brings out that ‘HIGH’ feeling within us we should continue in the profession, no matter which profession it is. But on flip side today we are bound between so many documentation works in schools and colleges the real teacher is getting a BRAND new name-tag as facilitator. Somewhere people are speaking about E-learning technology replacing Human teachers if not completely at least changing their roles and responsibilities, the marathon lectures that used to result in ‘HIGH’- adrenaline flow within the class will slowly get declined in our brick & mortar classrooms too.

Next is about Invaluable Gift For a Teacher.......Read on

Teacher's Day is meant for giving gifts to our teachers isn't it friends? This post is all about which gift my teacher used to adore the most. We might think of gifting a pen, a book, most valuable quotation based greetings, a flower, a garland, a chocolate, a shirt, a shawl, a memento the list goes on and on....., Friends we had a teacher who used to teach us Trigonometry & Calculus in such a simple lucid manner, we were surprised to know that unknowingly entire class used to solve the most difficult problem like a hypnotized lot. While the same problem if we tried to solve independently at home, it appeared as hard 'NUT' to crack. Naturally we had become fans of this professor.

But the crux of this POST is to discuss 'What was the expectation of this teacher from his students?' This teacher never expected costly gifts from his students for teachers day, obviously no good teacher expects this. The uniqueness of our teacher was after every lecture class, He used to expect within himself that at least one student should come and express gratitude and praise him as " Sir, Today's class was awesome, I got the best out of it." These feelings he used to share with all of us in many occasions! After so many years of teaching I have also realized now like Jogger's High, Athletes High, Teachers' High also exists on mother earth, and that comes after teaching students for one satisfactory Hour or two. So, friends Teacher's high is the most valuable gift a teacher gets from the class and students.

“Words are the food and dress of thought they give it its body and swing and everyone’s longing today to hear some fresh and beautiful thing;” ಎಂಬ ಮಾತುಗಳು ಎಷ್ಟು ಸತ್ಯ ಅನಿಸಿತು, ಏಕೆ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ನನಗೆ ಎರಡನೇ ಕ್ಲಾಸ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಪಾಠ ಮಾಡುವ ಭಾಗ್ಯ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ್ದು ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಸದರ ಹುಡುಕಾಟಕ್ಕೆ ದಾರಿ ತೋರಿತು, ಅಂತೆಯೇ ಆ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ರೆಗ್ಯುಲರ್ ಟೀಚರ್ ಬದಲು ನಾ ಹೋಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಕ್ಲಾಸ್ ಸಹ ಹೊಸತನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ್ದು ಸತ್ಯ ಅಲ್ವಾ? ‘Everyone will be longing to hear something fresh and beautiful thing’ ಅನ್ನೋ ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಕವಿಯತ್ರಿ Mary O’Neil ಅವರ ಮಾತು ಎಷ್ಟು ಸತ್ಯ ಅಲ್ವಾ ಗೆಳಯರೆ?
