Bangalore New Year Celebrations & Hooliganisms

Bangalore city known as 'city of pubs', has been known for New Year Celebrations in M.G Road and Brigade Road, two prestigious roads ever since I.T Revolution happened in this city way back in 1995. From then onwards Christmas to New year day the Brigade Road and M.G Road is known to celebrate New year with crowd gathering on streets and dancing. Though now a days many select resorts, restuarants and pubs to celebrate new year. Crowd gathering on Brigade Road has been hallmark of Bangalore New Year and police protection was beefed up this year too. But the incidences of Molestation  in Brigade and M.G Roads on the eve of New Year has become a common observation, though new gangs of hooligans take advantage in every subsequent year. Adding salt to wound Women folks gather on these two streets as if no other place is available to celebrate and miscreants are taking advantage of the situation. As reported in Bangalore Mirror, this is not the first year this kind of incidence happening and crowded M.G Road and Brigade Roads are silent spectators of these kind of behavior for many years.

Psyche of Youth Yet to Reform

New Year Celebration brings in by and large two types of crowd to these two streets ( M.G & Brigade roads), Crowds comprising of Male-female partners and another section of male crowd who do not have female partner with them. Such gangs make use of the opportunity to molest the ladies who have come to celebrate knowingly or unknowingly the consequences of celebrating on streets so called New year, Unfortunately for them though Bangalore and other Indian Cities have embraced Western outlook and culture still the male-chauvinistic attitude within many men is not completely teared off. Such hooligans take undue advantage of the situation and indulge in cheap acts of molestation and other indecent behaviors.

What Police Can do?

As for as this report in Bangalore Mirror goes Tight Protection.... ensured by Police and every media had told CC-TV has been used to monitor the crowd. Now media questions police for not controlling mob behavior and hooliganism, Though they are partially correct in questioning the police, If people on city roads themselves do not learn to curb animal instincts, no matter even you deploy 2000 Police force, such ugly incidences are going to repeat beneath branded dresses, branded deodorants and branded drinks the people flaunt in their hands and body. Now it is up to the police to look into the footage of  CC TV camera and catch the culprits. But until and unless our inner self doesn't become clean, no police can control such mob behavior and every year new set of hooligans rule the M.G Road and Brigade Roads on eve of New Year.
